Q1: Why does the first launch take about 8 minutes?

SayIt runs the complete OpenAI Whisper large-v3-turbo neural network model locally on your device. On first launch, Apple CoreML compiles and optimizes the model specifically for your iPhone's Apple Neural Engine (ANE). This operation happens only once; subsequent launches are instantaneous.

Q2: How do I enable the SayIt Keyboard? Why is 'Allow Full Access' required?

To enable the keyboard:

1. Open iPhone Settings.

2. Go to General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard....

3. Select SayIt from Third-Party Keyboards.

4. Tap SayIt - SayIt Dictation, toggle Allow Full Access to ON, and confirm 'Allow'.

Why Full Access is needed: iOS isolates custom keyboard extensions in an app sandbox. Full Access is required solely to communicate with the container App via a local App Group to trigger on-device audio capture and receive transcribed text. SayIt never uses Full Access to send keystrokes or audio data over the internet.

Q3: What is the orange microphone dot in the status bar? How do I end standby?

The orange dot is an iOS system privacy indicator showing that the container App has an active audio session in the background ready for dictation. Audio is only sampled when you actively press the microphone button.

To close standby:

1. Tap End Standby directly on the SayIt keyboard.

2. Set an idle auto-release timeout (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h) in SayIt App Settings.

3. Swipe up in the iOS App Switcher to force close SayIt.

Q4: How do I correct frequently misrecognized words or names?

Open the SayIt app, switch to the Correction tab, and tap + to add a pair: enter the heard mistake and the replacement word. SayIt will auto-correct this phrase in all future dictations.

Q5: How do I set up and use Phrase Snippets?

In the SayIt app, go to the Snippets tab to add frequently used templates (such as addresses, tax IDs, or canned replies). On the keyboard, tap the snippet icon to insert them with one tap.

Q6: How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new phone?

Log into the same Apple ID on your iPhone, open SayIt > Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. Apple App Store will restore your ad-free status with no extra charge.

Q7: Which iPhone models are supported?

SayIt requires 6 GB RAM or more to execute the large-v3-turbo model locally. Supported models include iPhone 13 Pro/Pro Max, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 16 series, and newer.
